UT069 is a BAR-certified 12-hour smog technician update training seminar using ATG’s 202-page manual. Instructors receive a full PowerPoint presentation, notes, schedule, final exam, and answer key. This shorter format allows for technicians to complete the 16 hours of update training using the mandatory 4-hour online training through BAR.
Course Description
Everything in a modern vehicle is related, and a variety of networks and gateways are required to get all of the interrelated systems and components to share information. This definitely makes networking an emissions issue, both because one or more networks are needed during an emissions test, but also because seemingly unrelated faults will prevent proper emissions system operation and self-testing (i.e. Monitors).
As with other automotive disciplines, existing diagnostic information is not consistently helpful, and is rarely the short path to a fix. We’ve brought our ‘high level indicator’ approach to this subject to provide universal diagnostic strategies that quickly trim whole categories of possible causes. Then, we show you how to efficiently test the few possible causes that remain. Discussions in the manual focus on CAN, but the principles and strategies can be used for all networks.
