** What this webinar is about…

Most variable timing (VVT) systems are oil-based, so they are most efficiently tested as a complete system. But most flowcharts have you test components out of their normal operating conditions. This webinar focuses on eliminating possible causes quickly by choosing the best tool and test combinations, almost none of which are in traditional repair information. Sometimes PIDs aren’t available, but there are controls. When controls don’t work, there are jumper wires. You can also use oil, vacuum & compression gauges, Lab Scope CMP/CKP comparisons, and other simple tests you’ll never see in a flow chart.  But more important than all of these tests is the knowledge that you should never perform all of them! We’ll show which of them cross what possible causes off of your list so you can get it fixed and out of your bay.

This webinar is based on our popular Mechanical & Variable Valve Timing & Lift manual, which has hundreds of pages of the strategies covered in the webinar, including manufacturer-specific information for many Imports, including Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen/Audi, Nissan and others. This manual is part of our Import Series, but the same spool valve technology, as well as vane and helical actuators, are used in Domestics, which tend to be more straightforward in their use of PIDs and controls. As a result, the manual is helpful for almost all VVT testing, regardless of manufacturer.
