Jeff Canida

Jeff began working in the industry while attending high school as an apprentice in 1976. For most of his career, he has worked for independent repair facilities in the Willamette Valley.

Over the past twenty years he has focused on diagnosis of drivability and electrical problems.

Jeff currently operates his own shop in Corvallis Oregon, assisting local shops with problem vehicles.

Sergio Fernandez

Sergio has over 20 years of automotive experience, to this day he still owns a repair shop in Buenos Aires, Argentina that specializes in Automotive Electronic Diangostics. He has been training for the automotive industry since 1992. Sergio translates technical material and prepares students for the ASE A6 exam for Cise Electronics Corp.

Sergio is a ASE certified and L1 & L2 master technician. Since 2002: Mr. Sergio has been a mobile technical consultant for more than one hundred shops located in South Florida and the West Coast. Sergio is well versed and teaches on many different tools, Bosch, Vetronix, Scientec, Snap-on.

Since 2011: Mr. Sergio Fernandez translates technical material and teaches for ATG Automotive Training Group covering the Spanish area.

Rick Kelley

Rick Kelley has over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry including 23 years at Buck’s Automotive in Tucson AZ where he specialized in drivability and electrical.

As a Mobile Diagnostic technician and trainer, he brings his firsthand knowledge to the classroom. Rick is an ASE certified Master Technician with advanced certificates in L1 and X1. As a National Champion in the VICA Skill Olympics (now known as SkillsUSA) during high school, he was able to continue his education by attending Arizona Automotive Institute on scholarship.

Rick also competed in the ACDelco Technician of the Millennium contest from 1999-2003 placing in the top 4 nationally in every contest. Rick is on the advisory committee for his local high school automotive program and also a judge for his local SkillsUSA contests.

Kris Lewis

After 35 years in the auto industry, from turning wrenches to shop manager and foreman, Kris has decided to concentrate and devote the last 15 years of his time to Computer Diagnostics, Drivability and Training. While still working in the bay, part-time, he is well aware of what technicians deal with on a daily basis. In addition, he has a handle on the pulse of what real-world technicians are faced with daily, by working on a technical support hotline, where he handled 15-20 “Diagnosis to Completion” cars per day.

His unique way of putting things in laymen’s terms, has also helped him with another facet of his part-time projects, which is being associated with a nationally syndicated call-in radio show for the automotive consumer market.

With his dedication to his career, and his hobby’s, Kris has also received his “Merchant Marine Officer” Master Captains license from the US Coast Guard.

Gary Machiros

Gary has over 25 years experience as an Automotive Technician. He operates a family owned service station. He is an ASE Master Technician L1 Certified along with other ASE Certifications. He is also a Massachusetts State Certified Emissions Diagnosis and Repair Instructor. Gary was a contract instructor for General Motors and taught at the GM Training Center (in Dedham, MA) for 6 years. In 1996, Gary taught internationally for Delta College traveling overseas training technicians all over the world. He has taught for JENDHAM, Inc. and the Automotive Training Group, Inc. for several years, and is currently teaching part-time for Corporate Customs for ATG. Gary has taught many courses including: Automotive Electrical and Electronics, Power Train Control Systems, Driveability Diagnosis, OBDII, Emissions Diagnosis, Lab Scope Usage, Scan Tool Diagnostics, Audio Systems, Air Bag Systems, Four Wheel/All Wheel Drive Systems, Rear Axle Diagnosis and Repair, and Base Brake Systems.

Wally Mouradian

Wally Mouradian has 20 years of automotive experience including working as a repair technician and owning a service station. He is an ASE certified and L1 certified master technician. He graduated from Denver Automotive and Diesel College in 1980.

Wally is a member of the Service Technicians Society (STS) and served as vice president of Automotive Service Association Broward County Chapter. He is also a representative for EASE Diagnostics.

Dean Parsons

Dean has over 25 years of automotive repair experience including working as a repair technician and service manager. Dean remains active as a repair technician in a shop that specializes in repairing hard-to-repair vehicles referred from other businesses in his area. He has a California Smog License and is certified as a California Smog Program Instructor. Dean was recognized as a top technician by General Motors through the Delco Tech Program and is an ASE Certified Master Technician and has completed L-1. Dean’s training experience over the past 5 years includes instructing for Snap-On, Sun Electric and Mitchell International where he taught all of the driveability, electrical and Lab Scope programs. Dean travels extensively on the West Coast training for ATG. Dean graduated from Fullerton College with an AA Degree in Automotive. He is a graduate of the State of California Apprentice Program as a State Certified Mechanic.

Bryan Perrin

Bryan started in the back room of a service station in 1982, and received a certificate in automotive repair in 1983 from Mira Costa CC. Since then he has worked as a technician, shop foreman, shop manager and has owned 2 full service repair shops. Along the way he earned ASE Master Technician status in both automotive and medium/heavy duty truck repair, along with advanced certifications like L1, L2, L3, F1, C1, X1, G1, E2, P2, and A9.

Bryan has years of training experience as a certified California smog training instructor, and has certified 4 different update training courses for renewing smog repair technicians. He has written a magazine article and co-authored curriculum. He also works for the California Bureau of Automotive Repair as a subject matter expert in drivability and emissions along with brakes and lamp/electrical, and provides technical training for the smog referee program.

Recent shop experience has focused on computerized vehicle systems, including isolating logic problems for which manufactures have not created an efficient diagnostic path. This has resulted in innovative techniques for more practical and accurate diagnosis – especially for the enabling/disabling conditions and system/component interactions associated with modern vehicles.

Eric Walker

Eric has always believed in proper training and education, so he started his career in the automotive industry with achieving an Associate Degree in Automotive Technology from Universal Technology Institute. He continued his path by completing a Graduate degree in the BMW Step program, and by receiving a BMW Master Certification.

Having been a technician for more than 20 years, and in business for over 10 years as the owner of Walker Automotive, he knows the challenges that businesses and techs have to go through to diagnose today’s cars.

Eric’s love of the automotive industry and passion for education are what motivates him to share his knowledge and experience.

Ross Wellwood

Ross’s automotive experience during the past 30 years includes working as a repair technician, a shop owner and a trainer for such companies as Mitchell, Mac Tools, Precision Tune Auto Care and D.A.R.T.S. Ross has written numerous training manuals and hosts the “Car Doctor” radio show that has been airing for over 12 years on WDEL 1150 AM in Wilmington, DE. Ross is a certified member of the Delaware Emission Education Program and holds the first privately-issued certificate in the state. He is also on the advisory counsel of numerous Vo-Tech schools in his home state of Delaware.

Ross is an ASE Master Tech holding the L1 certification. He specializes in high-end driveability diagnostics and automotive electronics.

Jay Kuykendall – ATG Technical Contributor

Jay has almost two decades of automotive repair experience and still is a “hands-on” technician at an independent repair shop. Jay specializes in drivability and electrical diagnostics. He is an ASE Master Auto and Truck Technician, has both L-1 and L-2 certifications, is an Oregon State Advanced Emission Technician, and holds an AOS in Automotive and Diesel Technology.

Jay enjoys guest lecturing at the local community college and judging the yearly Oregon State Skills USA competition.

Recently, he co-founded the Northwest Automotive Technicians Society, as a way to bring technicians in his area together to share their knowledge and experience.
